This week is the first week of the Artists Open Houses Christmas Exhibitions running across the city. As you may know from my previous blog entries, I have been invited to show at For The Man I Love, number 38 in the AOH guide. It is also very exciting that I have been invited to attend this AOH for an exclusive one-day only pyrography demonstration.
I will be at For The Man I Love at 13 Maldon Road in Brighton, from 12-4pm this coming Saturday (4th December); where I will be creating new pyrography works and offering free personalisations on all purchases.
It is FREE ENTRY and you can enjoy the work of 12 artists, all displayed in a beautiful Brighton house, with spiced cider and other tasty festive treats, as well as seeing live pyrography.
I am excited by this demo because I plan on working on many spoons and spatulas (creating new designs on the day) and also working on my latest piece, the two elephants. I think it would be interesting for visitors to see the different approach in technique and art style when dealing with two very different timber mediums.
I am unsure of the space yet and how easy it will be-but I also might film some of this demo on facebook live and instagram live, for all those who are unable to be there in person (big shout out to my International friends!). It might be a bit blurry, and mainly me chatting to people or even sat alone for hours working (who knows!), but it should be fun to share the experience online anyway. I don’t really know how it will turn out, whether many people will visit or be interested in what I am doing if they do, but it’s definitely worth a shot. Plus, I am moving house this week, so I could use some dedicated time to catch up on the Christmas orders if nothing else!
Either way, I hope that you can all make it along for a glass of spiced cider and a natter about art, whilst grabbing yourself a Jes Hooper special and having it personalised in front of your very eyes 🙂
