It’s been a busy start to 2017 with many events being booked, and many new projects underway. The most exciting project that I am embarking on at the moment is a collaborative effort between my partner Dave and I. We are soon to launch our own wedding range: Love Oak.
The premise behind Love Oak will be to cater for all the rustic decorative desires for your big day. We will be offering a unique service providing a range of wedding decor including, but not limited to, rustic table decorations, place names, cake stands, and wedding favours. We will be offering this service as either for hire or for sale, and all our products are the most ethical you will find. Each piece is made by hand in our workshop and art studio on the Sussex Downs, and our wood materials are foraged by us from the local landscape.
One of the most common issues that I encounter from newly wed’s is what to do with their table decorations after the wedding. We have a solution to this problem, and that is to hire decorations (even with personalisations) for your big day. We hate waste in any aspect of our artistic process, and feel that if we save a tree from rotting by turning it into beautiful bespoke decorations, then it is only right they are not thrown away afterwards!
Along with the rustic oak decor, we will be offering a bespoke personalisation service. You simply tell us what you want to be written or drawn into the timber decorations, and your wish will be granted. As with all my work, each piece will be burned freehand making your decorations truly unique.
Bespoke colour scheme:
One idea that we are very enthusiastic about is the option to personalise your decor in line with your wedding colour scheme. This is a service unlike any we have seen elsewhere, and it will be a fun infusion of colour to natural rustic decorations. I won’t be giving too much about this away yet as we are in the experimental stages of our designs, but please check back to my blog for updates. Alternatively you can subscribe to my mailing list at the bottom of this page to receive weekly updates before anyone else!
Who are we?
As you know, I am a freehand pyrography artist specialising in large wildlife pointillism artwork; and I work predominantly with oak. Oak is my favourite timber, though an unusual choice for a pyrographer due to it’s unruly grain proving it to be a notoriously difficult medium for an artists canvas. Despite it’s challenges, I find myself saying each day “I love oak”, because I am utterly in love with it’s beautiful unpredictable grain, colours, and rustic tactile bark. And so the name Love Oak was born! I am very excited to be offering this range because I think there is nothing more beautiful and humbling than to share someones wedding day with them, and by supplying my artwork I can contribute to the special atmosphere.
My partner Dave is also a passionate woodsman. Having spent the past six years working as a carpenter and building everything from timber framed houses to kitchens and furniture, Dave knows a thing or two about timber preparation and construction. We now spend our weekends together foraging for timber and crafting in our workshop and are ready to bring our two passions, timber and art, together in a collaborative project.
When you purchase or hire from Love Oak you are safe in the knowledge that each piece has been lovingly selected, prepared, and personalised, by our hands. We love what we do, we love oak, and we hope you fall in love with our wedding range too!
Our first wedding fair will be The Happily Ever After Wedding Fair on Sunday 12th March between 10:30am-4pm at Brighton Race Course. VIP guests will also be provided with complimentary tree branch keyrings, an example of our wedding favours and place name options.
