1 in stock

  • An original signed wooden feature art piece, created with traditional freehand pyrography techniques.
  • Two large fish have been precisely produced by burning thousands of dots by hand, resulting in a unique and challenging art piece, suited to the equally challenging oak medium.
  • Each fish scale comprises of approximately 30 dots, burned by hand, which when combined in the viewers eye forms two swimming shimmering fish. Thus, this one-off art feature boasts an organic style, setting it aside from commercially accessible lazer wood art practices.
  • This solid oak board has been carefully selected for it’s beautiful grain, and waney edging, and has undergone intensive preparations to enable successful burning. Oak is a notoriously difficult medium for pyrography due to it’s density and unruly grain, making this piece a very unique edition for art collectors and those with an appreciation of natural materials.
  • This large feature art piece hangs from wire attached from two heavy duty D-ring clasps on the rear of the piece for flush wall mounting. The reclaimed oak is further stabilized with inset metal bridging to the rear.

    Note from the artist:

This piece has been a labour of love, taking over 75 hours to complete with each scale carefully burned to give depth and movement. I selected this oak from a local Sussex based mill because it is a beautiful and unique piece that has an stunning grain and interesting shape. I carefully sanded, stabilised, and burned the timber one dot at a time, before hand buffing it with bees wax for protection and added shimmer. I worked closely with the grain, using it to add further depth and light balance to the dot work, enhancing the perception of flowing movement of two fish swimming amongst the oak grain.
